Overview
I wrote this short tutorial on FOOKunity. It's for Fallout 3. Any suggestions on improving it are very welcome. There are quite a few tutorials on this, but i haven't seen one that would list all this information in a form easy to use for a complete beginner. This assumes you can unpack .bsa's with FOMM, and find the files you need in your data folder.
Modern Firearms introduces a LOT of current real world weapons to the game, at this time mostly rifles. There are several base 'families' of weapons including the AR15, AK, HK416/7, ACR (Magpul Masada), HK MP5, SG 550-552 and many more, all of which are completely customisable at a workbench, creating variants from suppressed CQB shorties to DMR variants of most.
The Dragonskin Tactical Outfit incorporates a thigh holster for pistols, and the mod includes modified pistol draw/holster animations to make pistols sit in the holster when holstered, rather than on the waist as in default Fallout New Vegas. Modern Plate Carrier, Helmets and Mulitcam Uniforms Armour - posted in Fallout 4 Mod Requests: Can somebody please make modern tactical gear. Plate Carriers with Molle Pouches. Uniforms in Multicam, MARPAT and Flecktarn. Helmets like the ACH, ECH and OPS-Core.
Preparing
You will only need Nifskope.Choose an outfit you would like to use as a base. Outfits that follow the body shape closely, ie Vault Suit, are usually best for this. We'll call it nif1. Open it in Nifskope.Go to Render / Settings, in a window that just popped up go to Rendering and click Auto detect game paths. This will display textures in the render window (only the ones in your data/textures folder, not those in .bsa's).Press f3, Block details window should appear on the bottom.Go to File / Auto Sanitize before Save, make sure it's checked.Choose an outfit with a part you would like to add to nif1. We'll call it nif2. Open it in another instance of Nifskope.
A few mods with plenty of cool 'loose' parts: The Pitt DLC, Tailor Maid, CRI Squad, Scavanger Outfits, Dragonskin Tactical Outfit, Military Equipment, Jill Valentine BSAA Outfit, FOOK2.
Clean master old version.
Combining your outfit
Keep in mind that there is no Undo in Nifskope. Save often and keep backups of various stages of your work.In the render window of nif2, right click on the part you want to add, Block / Copy branch. Back to nif1, in Block list (window on the left), right click on the 0 NiNode (top line), Block/Paste branch. New part is now added, displayed in a render window, and selected. In Block details (bottom window) of nif1, click on the small Txt icon in the top line. Change the name to arms (you can use numbers ie arms07) for everything that's on arms, this will make it appear in the 1st person. Use the name upperbody (again, you can use numbers) for everything else, this will make it disappear in the 1st person. Also, the part that is visible when your pipboy is on should be called pipboyon, the one that disappears when you put on your pipboy should be called pipboyoff.
It is safe to remove some part if you want (remember, most probably there is no body under it, just an empty space). Right click on that part, block/remove branch. Also remember, you can not undo that, so if you remove something you need you might have to start all over again.
Some complications you might encounter (you can skip to point 3 if you did not encounter any):If 0 NiNode (top line in Block list) of the 2 nifs you use has different names, you will get the message 'Failed to map parent link NiNode <your nif2 0 NiNode name>'. Simply rename 0 NiNode of nif2 to match that of nif1 (again, using the Txt icon in Block details top line), and try copying the part again. No need to save changes to nif2.Sometimes your nif1 will be missing a bone that nif2 requires. The message will be 'failed to map parent link <bone name>'. In Block list of nif2, find the needed bone, right click on it, Block/Copy branch. In Block list of nif1, right click on 0 NiNode, Block/Paste branch.Back to the nif2, the bone you just copied is still selected. Click the Txt icon in the block details top line and Ctrl-c the bone name. Back to nif1, the bone you just added is still selected. Click Txt icon, paste over the name (it is crucial that the bone is named exactly the same as it was in nif2). You should be able to copy the part you want now.
Adjusting the new shape
Usually the newly added part will clip through nif1 shapes. Right click on it, Transform / Edit. Here you can make small adjustments to its size and position. Avoid moving shapes much, as they are still connected to the skeleton, so if you move a shoulderpad to your knee it will fit when you're standing still, but when you move it will follow the moves of your shoulder, not your knee.If you want to scale the shape along X, Y, Z axes, Transform / Scale Vertices.Once you're done with editing, right click edited part, Transform / Apply. A message will appear, telling you that if you moved your shoulderpad to your knee it won't work ingame. Click OK.
Dismemberment
(this part can be skipped)
Fallout 4 Dragon Skin Tactical Outfitters
If you paste, for example, complete arms from nif2 to the nif1 body, the meatcaps on nif1 (pieces of meat you see dangling from the wound when dismemberment occurs) will not fit the new arms. if on both outfits leg and arm meatcaps are separate, just delete nif1 arm meatcaps, and replace them with the ones from nif2 (using the method described in point 2).However, if arm and leg meatcaps form a single shape (that's usually the case), then there's nothing you can do without Blender.Wrong meatcaps will not damage your game, they'll just look fugly, that's all. Shouldn't matter much if you're making outfits for yourself and your companions.
Switching textures
Let's say you copied the combat armor chestplate from Tailor Maid to your new outfit, and you would like it to use one of many combat armor retextures. Copy the textures you need to your data/textures folder. In the render window, click on the chestplate to select it. In Block list, expand selected branch. Find BSShaderPPLightingProperty, expand it, find BSShaderTextureSet, select it.Now in Block details, expand Textures, you will see 2 texture paths - first one is the texture, and second one is the normalmap (it ends with '_n', it's there to make your object look more 3d). Click on a purple flower next to the texture and navigate to your texture of choice. Do the same for the normalmap if it's provided with your retexture, leave it alone otherwise (should still fit).
Hint - Steiner Combat Gear has great retextures of vanilla, Dragonskin, and Military Equipment meshes. FOOK2 also includes many great outfit retextures.
Finishing up
Go to Spells / Batch, click Update All Tangent Spaces. This will prevent many bugs.Go to Spells / Optimize, click Remove Bogus Nodes. This will remove all unused parts of the skeleton, useful if you're making an armor addon (Tailor Made style). Don't do this if you intend to add some parts later! Some tutorials advise stripifying TriShapes in Nifskope, I advise against it as this can distort a mesh (ie arms on Tobar's Outfit from Point Lookout DLC). This is best done in Blender.Save. You're done. :D

Hello, everyone.
I'm back with a new MC and similar concept to my SCP: Stranded fic. Thanks to the feedback received from the other fic, I have a bit more experience going into this one. As you can guess from the categories, this MC is instead going to be the protagonist of Fallout: New Vegas, of which I am much more knowledgeable in than the SCP universe. However, much like my last fic, I want to point some things out first before I get started.
Firstly, much like my SCP fic, this will primarily be an isekai fic with the MC being transported to the MGE universe and having to survive the onslaught of monsters and fanatics while trying to find a way back. As such, many characters and locales from Fallout WILL NOT be present. This is what I want to write, and while I welcome criticism wholeheartedly, please keep this in mind as you proceed.
Secondly, I will be drawing my MC's experience and items from a slightly modded version of the game. Most mods I use are bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements like patches and texture/weather overhauls. However, there will be pretty big ones like Project Nevada, A World of Pain, More Traits and Perks, and Dragonskin Tactical Outfit (with backpacks). Also DLCs.
Thirdly, this MC, my character from Fallout NV, is insanely overpowered and has too many weapons and items for me to list at once. As such, I will be scaling up the power balances in the MGE universe so that he isn't just going around bodying everything in a ten mile radius. I want this to be somewhat of a challenge for the MC, even if there's not much I can do about his advanced weapons and armor. I'll be doing everything I can to even out the conflicts, but if slightly overpowered characters, in any sense, are not something you fancy, then you may not enjoy this fic.

Fourthly, and I think this goes without saying, but please keep reviews and discussions civil. Just saying you don't like something without providing context or insulting someone for whatever reason is just a waste of everyone's time, including your own.
Cookie 5 5 7 4. Finally, much like my last fic, I will be posting most Author's Notes/updates on this chapter in order to stay organized, and I will save big news for their own chapter.
I think that's about it. Let me know if y'all want a character sheet on the main character. I wasn't planning on doing one and only did one for the other fic in order to mimic the more document-based style of worldbuilding that the SCP universe is known for, but let me know and I'll make one.
UPDATE: 6/22/2020
Hello, everyone
I have been reading the reviews to see how I can better write this story, and I have been trying to take them into account as best I can. Seriously, thanks for the feedback, it means a lot.
However, I would like to address a complaint I have seen a couple times now and clarify it for you all. As much as many of you would like to try and tell me, Six does NOT have defined personality in the games or lore. I've tried googling it, and the only search result that even so much as talked about a set personality that came up was an anonymous Reddit user trying to justify a headcanon.
I don't mean to sound patronizing, but Fallout: New Vegas is a Role-Playing Game with a fully customizable main character. As such, while he may have had somewhat of a personality before he got brained by Benny, that is out the window when the player takes control of him. His dialogue options? They are just that: options. You can make him be really nice and white knight every character or you can make him be an asshole who exploits and even kills people for the lols. This may come as a shock to you, but Six IS an OC in a sense. He may have almost the same experience for every player across the board through the static quests, but not everyone will play him the same way with the same personality. If you don't like how Six behaves in this fic because it goes against what you think Six should act like, then I'm sorry but that is a personal grievance since there is no set way for him to behave.
Now if your criticism is that he is inconsistent, then that's different. While not enough has happened between him and the Order to determine whether or not he will behave according to his character, and I don't want to spoil what's to come, trying to make sure his character stays consistent has been my number one priority aside from developing the actual plot, so rest assured that when it comes down to it, he will stay grounded in his core beliefs, and I will do my best to make sure he doesn't go OOC. Anyway, I just had to get that out of the way before more people get the wrong idea. Please keep the reviews coming in, and I'll do my best to make use of them and make the story as good as I can. Thanks.
UPDATE: 6/25/2020
Hello again,
I don't have any real news this time, but I wanted to make you all aware of something if you aren't already. After I released Chapter 10 yesterday, I have gotten quite a few reviews. Unfortunately, Fanfiction{.}net is having another review delay right now for me, and I am not able to see any of the new reviews. If you're not aware, this is a rather common occurrence and has been plaguing this site for years now, so rest assured that, while I will see your reviews eventually, it will be a while. As such, I want to wait on writing the next chapter for now until the site gets its shit together, which could be anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. As soon as I read all of your reviews for this latest chapter, though, I'll continue. Sorry about that.
UPDATE:7/13/2020
Hello, everyone
Thanks for the continued support on this story and supplying me with feedback. I seriously can't thank you enough. I'd like to just mention somethings to at least answer a few people's questions and explain certain things I do.
Firstly, on the topic of Druella and the monsters. I'd like to simply make it clear now that I will NOT be writing a chapter or section that switches the point of view. I understand many other authors do it in order to build intrigue and dramatic irony, but I will not be doing that. I prefer to leave many things open and a mystery as to create a sense of suspense and foreboding. For instance, take the chase from Chapter 19 I just posted. Druella may have been following Six, but he didn't know for sure and didn't want to risk losing ground to verify that. Since he said very blatantly Druella scares him based on his scan, he will be doing everything in his power to avoid her. With her status left unknown, it can build a sense of suspense or even fear as to just where the Hell she went and what she is doing. This story will be told exclusively through Six's point of view, so if that's something you don't like, I'm sorry, but that's the route I'm taking. That's part of the reason why I've been so sparing on saying which monsters are what; because Six hasn't read the Monster Girl Encyclopedia.
Secondly, when it comes to reviews. As I've said in my last update, Fanfiction{.}net often has 'review delays' wherein, you can post a review for a chapter, but it may be a while before I or anyone else sees it. The review is still there, the site is just not cooperating. Since I value your criticism, I wait for reviews to kind of slow down before writing and posting my next chapter. That way, I can read most of them and take their critiques into account going forward. I always encourage people to leave constructive criticism, that is, tell me what's bad, why it is bad, and how to fix it, but as long as it isn't rude or just saying something is bad without context, I WILL take it into account.
Other than a couple spoiler questions, I think that's about it. In terms of things like 'What does Druella think about Six?' or 'What is Druella doing?', most of those questions will be answered soon. Please keep the reviews coming, I know this site can be kind of stupid with them sometimes, but know that I appreciate them and will do what I can to take your critiques into consideration. Also, p.s., I added a couple more lines to the end of Chapter 19 to smooth over a criticism I've been seeing about the chapter being rushed. ;)
EDIT: One more thing, in regard to Six's limitations. Mostly, he is going to be limited by his lack of certain S.P.E.C.I.A.L attributes as every skill is maxed out. Perks are super situational, and he has too many to keep track of, so I'll only be actively monitoring new ones he gets during his stay in this world. In terms of material limitations, he is obviously limited by carry weight, which will come into play later since he's still got around 150 lbs. to spare, so the main limiter with his items and gear will be equipment degradation, which has been noted already with regards to things such as his helmet and Blood Nap. He can do light repairs as he has max Repair and a few weapon repair kits, but if something breaks, he's shit out of luck. Lastly, ammo. Since I've maintained following the in game mechanics for a while now, I will be also running with the mechanic that ammo weighs nothing. As such, while he has less than a thousand for every ammo type, excluding Microfusion and Energy Cells, he has a bit of everything as well as at least one weapon to use most of them. Meaning that, unless Six is stuck there for an EXTREMELY long time, ammo will likely not be an issue. Only exceptions are grenades, mines, throwables, and mini nukes.
UPDATE: 7/27/2020
Hi, all
I just wanted to give a couple warnings to everyone about the how I'm going to be writing this going forward.
Firstly, things are really starting to get busy for me again, so I may have slightly longer periods of time before I post the next chapters.
Secondly, I will be changing a few things from the canon MGE world in order to make the story better in the long run. The main changes I'm making are that Order soldiers WILL NOT have access to firearms of any kind and Monsters WILL NOT have any sort of sexual relations with underage kids. When I wrote that Six said there were no other firearms in the world, that was purely from his own perspective. He is unaware that there ARE some early stage firearms in this world, but that will come up much later. For the kids thing, I am fully aware that, in the MGE canon, there are a lot of underage shenanigans that involve sex, but I will simply not be doing that here.
There are two main reasons for this change. Firstly, it's simply to uncomfortable/fucked up to write about sexual topics involving underage children, even if they are monsters. Secondly, I'm trying to write both the Order and the Demon Realm as morally gray, and having the monsters of the Demon Realm openly admit to raping underage children would immediately shoot them into the red. I don't want that, I want both factions to be bad with a few redeeming qualities. I will explain how children work within the sex-oriented Demon Realm Societies in the future, but just know that this story will not contain nor imply ANY sexy times involving children, human or monster.
UPDATE: 9/8/2020
Hello, everyone
It's been a while since my last update, but I just wanted to get back to you all on something and get it off my chest. I feel like I was unclear with you all about something before I started this fic and wanted to be transparent with you. Don't worry, I don't plan on dropping this fic. In fact, with things starting to slow down a bit in my life, I should be able to keep from reverting to a monthly update schedule for now. Rather, I wanted to make it perfectly clear my current skill level and mindset when writing this fic.
Firstly, I am not a writer. At least, I don't see myself as one. Really, the only reason I'm writing this is because I have an overactive imagination and just needed to get an idea I thought others might like out of my head. In reality, I do not have any professional writing talents or insights into how to write the perfect story or character archetype. So, for the most part, I'm just doing this for fun. This is compounded by the fact that my life is rather busy and I'm doing this with no profit motive, and I wouldn't expect one. This is just a hobby of mine I do in my free time occasionally alongside video games and anime.
So, why do I bring all of this up? Well, it has to do with criticism. My stance on it has not changed since I laid it out for you when I started writing this. I welcome any and all criticism, and I will take them into account as long as they are not rude or just saying something is bad without context. However, while I will keep them in mind, actually working to improve my story with them is difficult when no further suggestions are given. I am not a writer, so trying to come up with fixes for complex writing issues just isn't something I am willing to spend so much time on for something I engage in so casually. Furthermore, I'd expect most people wouldn't come to this site if they were looking for high-quality reading material. I'm not saying you can't find it, but it certainly is rare, and unfortunately, I don't have the aforementioned skills or hardcore commitment to spend hours coming up with the best way to present and develop a story like this.
This is why I prefer you also include potential things I can do in order to make the story better. I'm not a professional, and I expect many of you guys are better at developing a story and characters than I am, so I mean it when I say anything helps. Thanks for reading.
